My Commission Tracking Journal: fav.me/d4lk5fs
Suicide AwarenessThis is not normally a topic I cover, nor will I cover in depth unless what I suspect might happen comes to pass. I have a strong feeling, based off of observed behaviors from several people around me, that this winter will have a rather high number of suicides. I don't know what's going on, but I do know that economic and social factors are in play. While I'm in love with this time of the year out here in the North West; I can definitely understand why other people respond to the lower light levels differently.
This is just a generic warning to people that still read my journals. Keep a close eye on the people around you and respond quickly to any signs of severe depression and dialogue containing any words of self destruction. If you want more info, go check out the suicide prevention info at http://www.helpguide.org/articles/suicide-prevention/suicide-prevention-helping-someone-who-is-suicidal.htm .
I suspect the severe economic conditions we're experiencing in the US at this time i
Ready Player One is Very Boring and Very BadLets get this out in the open: I read this book because it was part of a deal where one of my sisters would agreed to watch some of the videos about MGTOW if I read or listened to Ready Player One. She found StarDusk to be incredibly boring and hard to follow, because the video constantly made her think. Unfortunately, I think I got the worst end of the bargain. Basically, both of us had to do something the other didn't want to do. And now on with the review.
This book is pure garbage. Its nothing more than fanfiction that got published. Exactly how Shades of Grey IS a slashfic of Bella and Edward with only the names changed for public release. And of course both books have gotten extremely popular and made a ton of money for the people involved. Yay, creative license (why create something when I can just steal it?).
This isn't a book. Instead, it is a checklist of common tropes loosely held together with 80's product placement and trivia, then half baked
Investing is for fucking idiots and rich peopleI'd love to rant more on this topic, but it boils down to this:
Investment people, the ones that talk about putting money back, and talk about cryptic shit like 401k, IRA, Roth, stock market, bonds, mutual funds, etc; are absolutely positively unwilling to help people do so. After talking with various firms over the last 10+ years either as a client, employee, or in casual conversation, I have been shut down and told to gtfo every single time. Apparently investing has a "you must be this rich to ride" barrier that can't be breached with anything short of half a million dollars. I've never understood this, and it makes me angry that with all the people and managers that give long boring speeches about building wealth, none of them will help you get there. All they want to do is play with rich people's money like a toy. I have a 401k and several unrelated investments, and my assigned manager AND the asshole my parents hired to manage them refuse to actually do so or help me by actually '
Mid Year UpdateStarting up a few commissions. Will post them as they get done.
Been about six months now without Internet, and its rough sometimes, but life moves on. I refuse to fund the bullshit going on with the ISP's extorting money from paying customers twice and then turning around and demanding more money from the content providers like google and netflix. My bill went up and up and all I got out it was a slower and more unusable connection. My co-workers think I'm insane, but its $60 a month I don't need to spend anymore which has helped out a bit with my bills and life. Yeah, I'm not buying into the whole "our economy is improving!" crap. Sure, I have a steady job, but prices are just rising out of reach of late, and I've responded by cutting out a lot of garbage and been buying offline or durable entertainment and goods. Things like books and taking up hobbies like crochet where I can download the instructions and do it whenever I want. Plus the exercise has been good for my wrist, which go
Starting the new year with differentFresh on the heals of burying 2013 in a ditch behind my apartment, and setting fire to the rotting corpse, I've decided to find something else to do this 2014 other than spend time remembering all the shitty things that happened.
New plans and goals:
1) Bikes, more of them.
- So I love bikes. I used to love longboarding, but accidents and moving to a non-college town (and therefore forgiving city ordinances about public places) has forced me to reconsider my primary mode of outdoor transportation. I spent last summer riding the crap out of my Trek 7.2, and enjoyed the hell out of not driving. However, improper fit and bad geometry nearly destroyed my wrists. Now, I'm almost done saving up to get a more relaxed fit bike designed for long distance travel and hauling capacity in the Surly Long Haul Trucker or the Surly Troll/Ogre. Gonna get a mustache bar and a Brooks saddle, some paniers and call it good. My goal is to be able to comfortably replace my ca
Goodbye 2013: You won't be missedGawd this year sucked ass. Suck games, terrible movies, disappointment abound, a sharp reminder why I hate going home for holidays, proof that the government really is suppressing news, spying on everything we do and destroying all our freedoms to keep a handle on us all when the economy finally collapses under the weight of the Fed's constant money printing, run-away social warrior activism from out of control feminists and mangina/white knights trying to destroy the gaming industry, a AAA games industry bound and determined to destroy itself, a bizarre attempt by Obama to start World War 3 by invading Syria? wtf?, and more of the same crap to be found everywhere.
So where does all this negativity lead me? Well to let everyone know that surviving isn't just a physical thing, its mental and emotional too. The only way to stay alive in this world right now is to cut out all the shit, and make yourself happy. And if you're a male, then its to take all those toxic women in your lives and
Nintend still sucks at advertising - Christmas Ed.So apparently, other than the 3ds, Nintendo is failing hard in the US for sales on the WiiU and its games. Well I just saw their big announcement advertisement for the Christmas 2013 shopping season and it BLOWS! Talk about utter failure to capitalize on existing good games for both systems. I had to check to make sure half those WiiU games had even been released as the last I'd heard was spring 2014, like all the other delayed games. And not a single one of those WiiU games were system sellers. You might be able to make a case for Pikmin 3 or Windwaker but both of those games have a really niche audience and the rabid Pikmin fans had already bought the system at launch expecting it to be there, but it was another delayed until sometime in 2013 game just like Rayman. There's just nothing there for anyone.
As for the 3ds, if I hadn't already bought the 3ds and been collecting all the awesome games on it like, I might look at this ad and skip the system entirely! I mea

Critiquing, do's and dont'sSo i almost always request critiques on my art, and i also get a lot of them too (thank you so much guys/galls) and i've noticed some critiquers have some misconceptions about critiques, their role, how to do it, etc.
Now i don't want to critique someone's critiuque, i rarely do that because people take it as being defensive about the art that is critiqued. So i'll just make this journal to hopefully inform/educate some of you about critiquing.
-If an artist requests critiques, and you have something to say about it then do use the critique widget to leave a critique. Don't critique in the comment's section though. I know some of you are more shy, but if you're bold enough to write a critique then put it in its proper place, that's what the widget is fore. This does not apply to artists who do not have a premium and can't requests critiques through the widget.
-Do read the artists comments on the artwork first. They might offer hints on what

8 Legal Cases Every Photographer Should KnowSource: http://petapixel.com/2014/10/28/8-legal-cases-every-photographer-know/
Understanding your legal rights as a photographer can often be confusing and overwhelming. From copyright infringement to fair use to DMCA, there are a number of legal concepts that every photographer should be familiar with. Here are eight important legal cases that are illustrative of these concepts and the importance of registering your copyright.
1. Andrew Paul Leonard v Stemtech Health Sciences, Inc
Key concept: Copyright infringement and registration
Microphotography expert Andrew Paul Leonard’s photographs of bone marrow stem cells were stolen and used on the Stemtech website and other marketing materials.
The court ruled in Leonard’s favor for copyright infringement awarding him $1.6m in actual damages. However, he was denied statutory damages because he didn’t register his images until after the infringement occurred.
2. Nussenzweig v DiCorcia
Key concepts: Right of Privacy/Publici

Six Years on DA. Submission Hell.Well what do we have here? I do believe its a six years on DA! Wooo.
I think I'm just going to install linux on my laptop, cause I can upload from work on my desktop there running Mint Linux 13 with some out of date Google Chrome and Firefox. I think its clear that DA's dev team has no fucking clue what they're doing. I never thought I'd see the day when a website works better on out-of-date software running on Linux than on Windows. Normally, I have to boot into Windows to get something done when websites start bitching about not detecting a Windows OS or some specific browser plugin that's Win7+ only. I want to personally kick the shit out of every single member of the dev team and then stave their head in with an old school Programming in C text book, because its clear these people need to start over with the basics.
I'll try to have the artwork loaded up by the end of the week from work. I can't believe I need to find an out-of-date browser and flash/java plugin in order to get
