I really hated this episode/trailer. Video linked below, with reasons listed under the video. Edit: added links to the superior Red and White videos, and I highly recommend watching them:

Red roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=6… and White roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=6… were so much better.

Character Design
So she's another generic looking cat-girl who's boring, boring to look at, and her outfit looks stupid. Her voice acting is BAD. I've heard 4kids stuff sound better than this. And why did she betray him at the end? If I wanted a sex fetish chick with ears, I'd go hang out on FA where they're at least drawn better. A gun/whip blade? Again? She's a lamer version of Red (who at least was deadly) unlike Black.

 Lol What?
This is not how I was expecting the 3rd main member to be dressed for combat.

Don't Overshadow the Main Character!
Also, why is the male character, Adam, not only more interesting, but way more cool and effective. His sword with a shotgun sheath was far more effective at killing stuff than that retarded whip/gun thing. His design stands out, has more charm than whatever that overstuffed blouse + hotpants + overcoat visual mess that Black wore. Yeah, sure, design lifted from Code Geass and bleach, but at least HE was interesting! If you're going to tell a story about four different girls doing badass things with tragedy and pain as a backdrop, THEN DON'T HAVE THE SIDE MALE CHARACTER OVERSHADOW HER!

Knock knock, Viz here, we want our copyright back now.

Music
I wasn't paying attention to the forgettable music because the terrible voice acting, blurry animation, and boring fight scene got in the way. Which is a HUGE shame, because I love the music in Red and White.

Character Design - Fix
What needed to have happened is something that Red Letter Media said about Obi Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn. There needs to be a re-write where Adam and Ms. Boring are merged into one character called Blake. She'd have the design of Adam (with a female body of course) and his katana shotgun instead of another re-hashed gun scythe/whip thing. And she'd be alone, or with a revamped Adam being a helicopter pilot or something playing backup or transport in the background trying to keep up with her antics and gun/swordplay. Then Blake would be interesting, have a real role other than side-kick and she wouldn't look like a badly drawn attempt at ripping off Zatana from Young Justice. At least the Code Geass mask and Renji's hair/outfit from Bleach looked cool and distinct.

I thought I'd leave this video with one final comment:
I'd rather hang out on 4-chan during Caturday while beating off to images on Fur Affinity with the 4-Kids version of One Piece looping in the background than endure this abomination one more time. I'm going to go watch Red massacre hordes of werewolves, and then go watch Code Geass, because this cheap knock off isn't worth my time.

Here's hoping that Yellow makes up for this mess.

And the worst offense of all. She's supposed to be one of the four main women!

Adam: "Let's do this!" - Adam taking charge and displaying leadership.

Adam: "Buy me some time!" - oh yeah Blake is so important . 'go distract it for me, so I, Adam can do something badass and effective.'

Ms. Boring: "Are you sure?" - are you sure? wtf? do you not know you're fighting to survive? do you not know Adam's powers?

Ms. Boring: "goodbye...." - what? what just happened? did little miss sidekick really just abandon the guy who just one shot a giant mech? why?

And this is our third lead guys.
oh yeah, i bet her story is going to be so awesome...

Hello there! I know that this is, like, soooooo old, but I saw this recently and wanted to give my opinion on it. You know, because like you said, people are allowed to have their own opinions. (Seriously, don't tell people that you're entitled to your own opinion... as a response to counter theirs.)

But I'm not here to throw shade or give hate, just wanted to share my thoughts. So I'm trying to be as kind as understanding as possible.

First of all, I don't really see any resemblance between Blake and Ruby's weapons. I can understand why you might, though, because Weiss's trailer, the one you probably watched in between the two, is very different from either of them. I can see from the comments that you didn't watch the show, which is fine, but I just wanted to let you know that most people in the show have that kind of traditional weapon mixed with futuristic elements.

You mentioned how Ruby was at least deadly in comparison to Blake, and you could be right, but I personally enjoyed the Black trailer more than the Red trailer. We both have different preferences, and I'm not really the fighting type, so I enjoyed the one with more conversation and better music.

I personally don't think that Blake's character design is bad, either. The outfit actually looks pretty nice, with white to break up the black and to make it more obvious. She does look a little bit generic, though, like you mentioned, but not awfully so. As far as characters designs go, she's not even that bad, so I don't know why you critiqued her so much in that department.

It's a little bit upsetting that you didn't take the time to listen to the music. I agree that it was hard to hear at some points, but you can really easily find the full song by looking up From Shadows on YouTube. It's actually a really, really, good song, and my favorite of the trailer songs. In fact, the music is what makes this trailer my favorite, putting it even above Weiss's, which is amazing. The music is what makes RWBY stand out, and I think that you just gave an excuse so you wouldn't have to admit that it was actually fine and give reasons against your own argument, which is understandable, but still, if you don't want to talk about the music, don't include it in your rant.

Maybe the voice acting is bad, I wouldn't know because I don't know much about that field, but one thing that I need to make clear is that it is not a dub. It's not a matter of dubs vs subs, because this is the original voicing. RWBY is an American anime.

I can understand your points about her not being as strong or as independent as Adam, but one thing you have to understand is that not everyone is confident or takes initiative, even if they were one of the main characters. If all four girls were all confident and strong and independent, it would feel rehashed and bland. I think that her character adds some diversity to the bunch.

Again, you didn't watch the show, but if you did, then you would know that this is a huge part of the show. Blake is reclusive and quiet, and lives in the shadow of Adam.

Ms. Boring: "goodbye...." - what? what just happened? did little miss sidekick really just abandon the guy who just one shot a giant mech? why?

By the way, that totally goes against your point: this is a fantastic example of Blake taking initiative.

The reason why Blake left Adam was so he wouldn't blow up the people on the train, but it goes deeper than that. Adam was abusive towards her, and was a manipulative psychopath.

Oh, and one last thing: Blake has one of the strongest stories and character arcs of the entire cast!

I know that you didn't watch the show, but that seems to be a glaring problem: several, if not all of your points are countered by things from the show. And I know that that's not necessarily all your fault, because it's RWBY's fault for not giving us a clear introduction to the show, but I recommend that you watch the show! The first few episodes are boring and painful to get through, but it gradually gets better and better, and personally, I really enjoyed it!

Maybe it's not in my place to say, but I think you could work on your criticism and even the personality that you display. In the comment sections, you really come off as a hypocrite, even if that's not who you are in real life or if that's not the personality you were intending to project. You tell people you're entitled to your own opinion but they're not, you criticize other people for having poor grammar or spelling when the grammar and spelling that you display in your writing is just as bad, you talk about people not being able to take an opinion when you're a fantastic example of what that is.

I think what most bothered me about you, though, was that you disrespected Monty Oum. Please, he's dead and he never hurt you.

You're entitled to your own opinion, that's for sure, but it's your responsibility to be kind and respectful when carrying it out. You don't have to be, of course, but then expect people to call you out on it. Having your own opinion does not equal being rude.

Have a nice day. I don't wish to cause drama from this, only wanted to give my opinion.
